BlackBerry the sequels – Storm 2 and Bold 2 coming soon?

Two BlackBerry handsets are inching closer to release – the BlackBerry Storm 2 and the Bold 2. After much leaking there’s still nothing official on either of those phones. But the Internet rumor mill is beginning to lean towards “coming soon”.

First up, the BlackBerry Storm 2 – we’ve seen photos of it and even videos demonstrating its amazing clickable screen powered by piezo-magic. The omens of its imminent coming are a Vodafone display snapped at the Carphone Warehouse plus a spy-ninja style blurry Verizon training video. The preliminary info of what’s in the box says 16GB microSD card (plus 2GB internal) and BlackBerry OS 5.0.

The other soon-to-arrive Berry, the BlackBerry Bold 2 (code-named Onyx), is set to become the BlackBerry corporate flagship. It trades the traditional trackball for a touchpad and offers 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS, not to mention it has some really nice looks. A tipster also let Engadget in on an announce date for the Bold 2 – October 21st.

Manfaatkan BlackBerry Secara Bijak

BlackBerry bisa diibaratkan pisau bermata ganda. Di satu sisi sangat membantu produktivitas, namun di sisi lain bisa juga sebaliknya. Dengan berbagai potensi dampak negatif BlackBerry, maka tips dan trick yang harus diutamakan adalah bagaimana menggunakan perangkat ini secara bijak.

Dimitri Mahayana, Chief Lembaga Riset Telematika Sharing Vision, mengungkapkan efek negatif itu sangat potensial jika mengingat penduduk yang sudah familiar dengan internet di Indonesia diperkirakan mencapai 100 juta orang nantinya.

Survei Sharing Vision kepada 101 responden di Bandung dan Jakarta April 2008 lalu menunjukkan 38% respoden di dua kota itu mengakses layanan internet dari ponselnya masing-masing.

“Bila melihat mobilitas masyarakat Indonesia yang kian tinggi, maka internet ponsel itu memang sangat potensial. Karena itu, perlu diperhatikan etika penggunaan sejak awal agar tidak kontraproduktif,” begitu katanya seperti dikutip detikINET.

Nah, agar tak terjebak dalam stigma negatif, ada baiknya beberapa beberapa tips dan trick praktis tentang etika ber-BlackBerry ala Dimitri ini kita simak:

a. Jangan gunakan BlackBerry saat sarapan atau makan malam dengan keluarga

b. Jangan gunakan BlackBerry ketika mengendarai mobil (sekalipun sedang dalam pemberhentian lampu merah), menyeberang jalan, atau kegiatan apa pun yang butuh konsentrasi tinggi.

c. Jangan biasakan memulai hari dengan mengecek BlackBerry. Anda lebih baik bersantai dengan keluarga, sebelum nantinya kecanduan.

d. Jangan sembunyikan kebiasaan dalam menggunakan BlackBerry dalam keluarga. Jika Anda merasa seseorang akan marah dengan kebiasaan, maka itu tanda kebiasaan Anda telah salah.

e. Tegaskan waktu yang sama sekali tidak boleh mengakses BlackBerry misalnya saat menghadiri kegiatan anak di sekolah, menjelang waktu mendongeng bagi anak, dst.

f. Secara perlahan, informasikan kepada kolega dan kenalan Anda bahwa mulai jam tertentu di luar jam kantor, ponsel akan dimatikan guna beristirahat dengan keluarga.

g. Saat sampai rumah, lakukan ritual yang menjauhkan diri dari iklim kerja semisal menonton DVD, menyalakan musik dalam temaram lilin, sehingga beban kerja di BlackBerry terlupakan.
